In a fast-paced world that demands constant acceleration, this project aims to offer individuals a calming and immersive experience to incorporate into their self-care routines within the comfort of their own homes.

Zen gardens, renowned for their stress-reducing qualities, serve as a way of life that promotes tranquility, calmness, and peace. Scientifically proven to provide psychological health benefits, these gardens help individuals reconnect with themselves and find inner harmony. The project revolves around creating interactive interfaces that represents a Zen Garden.

Traditionally, Zen gardens utilize rocks, gravel, or sand to emulate the essence of nature and assist individuals in achieving a greater sense of harmony with their surroundings. However, the art of arranging these elements mindfully may be unfamiliar to some. To bridge this gap, immersive videos will be introduced, demonstrating the serene and deliberate process of arranging rocks, sand, and shrubbery in the Zen garden. Through these videos, individuals can learn and adapt these practices, fully engaging in the meditative experience and establishing a profound connection with nature.

Art Therapy

For this project, a physical Zen Garden has been recreated, which can be displayed on a tabletop. Different sensors have been added to various parts of the Garden, enabling user interaction. These sensors detect user input and correspondingly display nature videos, images, and music. The selection of nature media is specifically chosen to enlighten and give meaning to the actions executed by the user.

Through this combination of physical interaction and multimedia immersion, the project aims to provide a unique and personalized journey for users. It allows them to unwind, find solace, and derive deeper meaning from their interactions with the Zen Garden.

Interface Design

By incorporating sensors into the Zen Garden, users can engage with the tactile elements of the garden, such as raking the sand or rearranging the rocks. These interactions trigger a response from the sensors, activating the display of immersive nature videos, harmonious music, and captivating images. Each media element is carefully curated to align with the user's actions and create a deeper connection with the Zen Garden.

For instance, gently raking the sand might trigger the display of a tranquil beach video, accompanied by soothing sounds of the ocean. This synchronization between user actions and the corresponding nature media enhances the interactive experience, fostering mindfulness and serenity.
